Why Help Us? It might sound cliché, but by helping us, you not only help single parents, but you will help your community, your city, and your country as well.
Stronger Parents = Stronger Families = Stronger Communities Our typical client is a single mother with nowhere else to turn. In most cases, she has likely just completed rehab, and is on her way to a new, sober life. But she needs help. She needs a safe place for her and her children to stay (many of these women come from abusive, toxic relationships and households. Going back there is generally NOT an attractive option.) Safe, supportive housing is a key component in continued successful recovery. Studies show that without proper housing and support, recovery is almost impossible. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out why. By helping us, you will help break the cycle of addiction / recovery / relapse. When single parents in recovery have a place to call home – a place where they feel both safe and supported – their recovery stands a much greater chance of being permanent. Not a Free Ride We want to stress that Change to Come does not offer a “free ride”. This is very important to some donors, and rightfully so. When they are our guests, Parents are expected to be responsible, and to continue with their recovery. They will still attend meetings and support groups as required, and they will fulfill any and all conditions that their treatment entails. In addition, they will also continue to learn about their patterns of behavior, and make adjustments where needed. Furthermore, they are expected to live in a way that is different from their past. In addition, they are expected to build a better relationship with their children, and accept responsibility for the choices they make while in this housing organization. We are interested in sincerely helping people who wish to help themselves. Together, we can build stronger families, and a stronger community/country, one family at a time.
